We are happy to announce that Chris Reed and Frans van Eemeren accepted the honorary life memberships of ArgDiaP Association.

Chis Reed is Professor of Computer Science and Philosophy at the University of Dundee in Scotland, where he heads the Centre for Argument Technology. He has been working at the overlap between argumentation theory and artificial intelligence for two decades and specialises in the theory, practice and commercialisation of argument technology. Chris has also been instrumental in the development of the Argument Interchange Format, an international standard for computational work in the area; he is spear-heading the major engineering effort behind the Argument Web; and he is a founding editor of the Journal of Argument & Computation. He also provides evidence to various committees at Westminster and his media appearances and writing have reached an audience in excess of 30 million people.

Frans van Eemeren is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Speech Communication, Argumentation Theory and Rhetoric at the University of Amsterdam. He is Guest Professor at Leiden University. His research interests include argumentation theory and rhetorical and dialectical analysis of argumentative discourse. He is (co-)author of some fifty book publications along with a large number of articles and book chapters. Frans van Eemeren is a Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association of the United States, Fulbright Professor, recipient of various research awards, chairman of the International Society for the Study of Argumentation (ISSA), and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Argumentation , Springer’s Argumentation Library, and John Benjamins’ book series Argumentation in Context.
