Argumentation and Rhetoric: IGSAR
“Corpus Analysis in Argument Studies“
All tutorials will be delivered in English and a registration fee is required for participation. Thanks to the financial support offered by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, there is a possibility to apply for grants to cover a registration fee to participate in four days of IGSAR (accommodation and travel have to be covered by a participant).
We also welcome abstracts of papers for the presentation during the student session planned as the Friday’s afternoon session of the ArgDiaP conference. Abstracts of the length between 300 and 500 words should be submitted in PDF format through EasyChair no later than 7 April 2014 14 April 2014 (extended). Notification of acceptance will be sent by 28 April 2014. For more detailed description, see the information below.

Programme:
The first two days of IGSAR will be devoted to introductory tutorials on corpus analyses of argumentative text, and on the third and fourth day students will join and participate in the ArgDiaP conference.

Abstract submission
Students may submit an abstract of the paper for a student session to be presented at the ArgDiaP conference. The abstract should be 300-500 words long, in a format required for the conference program and should give full names and contact details for all authors. Submissions will be reviewed by members of the programme committee (see the conference website). Notification of acceptance will be sent by 28 April 2014. At least one author of each accepted abstract must register for the conference. We plan to arrange a post-conference publication for full papers from the student session, yet the details will be given later.

Full registration fee covers the participation in 4 days of the IGSAR school, including:
- coffee breaks
- lunches
- gala dinner which will take place on Fri after the conference in the city center (details of the dinner venue will be given during the conference)
Grants
Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education sponsors several grants to students to support the attendance at the IGSAR school. An application should be sent to Dr. Katarzyna Budzynska: budzynska.argdiap (at) gmail.com, mentioning “[IGSAR 2014] Grant Request” in the subject line. When applying for the grant, it is necessary to submit the following documents in pdf format:
- Grant request: give your name; institution’s name and address; your email
- Proof of student status
- Brief description of your research topic and the importance of attending IGSAR
- Letter of support from your supervisor stating why the grant is needed to enable the student to attend IGSAR

Grants will cover a registration fee to participate in four days of IGSAR – accommodation and travel have to be covered by a participant.
Additionally, PhD students of the Graduate School for Social Research GSSR (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences) can apply for the financial support directly to Dr. John Fells. For details of application procedure, please send an email to: jfells (at) css.edu.pl

Warsaw offers a lot of hotels and Bed&Breakfast. We recommend the following hotels:
